Museum no. 2! I had to take two trips to the National Gallery. It’s pretty overwhelming and has lots of great stuff. Many of the items in the gallery belonged to the Royal family. Basically there are some amazing things here.

It’s located right on Trafalgar Square. So you can look out and see Admiral Nelson standing on a very phallic symbol with some giant Lions guarding him. The subtly is truly breath taking (I AM A MAN, A HERO, LIONS AND A GIANT DICK, MOAR LIONS)

The building holds the National Portrait Gallery as well and has another wing to hold all of its excellence.

Some Highlights:

Vermeer

Bronzino

Massys

Della Francesca

Da Vinci

Gainsborough

Monet
Rating: 3/5
Pros: Lots of great work, space to move around. Amazing! You can take photos! There’s a special exhibit on Goya coming that I’m super psyched about. Great gift shop.
Cons: It’s a lot to take in. There needs to be more info about the works rather than the handouts with 30 important paintings. They deserve better.
