Old town & Storming the Castle

Day 2!  I knew that I had to visit Edinburgh Castle as it’s only the defining landmark of the whole city. You know, so it’s kinda a big deal.

Day 2 was a bit of a whirlwind for me because I set a new personal record:

I SAW 5 MUSEUMS IN ONE DAY!!!!

And I will review each one. It makes me tired all over again thinking about it.  What I do for you my lovely readers out in the internet void.  Thanks for sticking with me! Or not.

Edinburgh Castle

Like a good #museumnerd and true keener I arrived before the opening hours and stood at the gate until they let me in. I would like to think I could have snuck in but my super spy spry skills were not up to the task. Also, I have a cold. So THERE mythical people of the internet who encourage me to break into castles.

I gotta get better at this whole selfie business. I apologise!

The views are amazing

I really loved the Saint Margaret Chapel. It’s the oldest building in Edinburgh according to the plaque. King David I built it and named it after his Sainted Mother Margaret.  Sounds like a lot to live up to.

The room where Mary, Queen of Scots gave birth to her son James the future King of England and Scotland.

I also saw the Scottish Royal Regalia which was super cool but no photos allowed for obvious reasons.  That display had terrifying mannequins so honestly the no photos thing is really a boon for you.

Rating: 4/5

Pros: It’s beautiful and amazing.  It’s big and super old.  Watch out for my photo post!

Cons: They want you to buy audioguides/ book to know more. It’s steep so bring supportive shoes.  Creepy mannequins.
